Cupro-nickel 90/10 and 70/30 flanges and fittings
Copper-nickel resists seawater corrosion and marine fouling, which is why it is standard for shipboard and coastal seawater systems.
Product forms and specifications
| Product | Specification and grade |
|---|---|
| Flanges | Cu-Ni 90/10 (C70600) and 70/30 (C71500) from ASTM B151 / B171 material, to EEMUA 145, ASME B16.5 or client drawing |
| Butt-weld fittings | Cu-Ni 90/10 and 70/30 to EEMUA 146 or client specification |
| Pipe (stocked and sourced) | ASTM B466 seamless, B467 welded, EEMUA 144 |
We manufacture the flanges, fittings and fabrications listed. Pipe is supplied from stock or sourced from approved mills.
Chemistry and strength
| Grade | UNS / W.Nr. | Nominal chemistry (%) | Min tensile / yield, MPa | PREN |
|---|---|---|---|---|
| 90/10 | C70600 / CW352H | Cu balance, Ni 9–11, Fe 1.0–1.8, Mn 1.0 max | about 275 / 105 (annealed plate) | n/a |
| 70/30 | C71500 / CW354H | Cu balance, Ni 29–33, Fe 0.4–1.0, Mn 1.0 max | about 345 / 138 (annealed plate) | n/a |
For design use the values in the current edition of the specification your order calls for.
Where it is used
90/10 is the usual grade for seawater cooling, ballast and firewater lines on ships and offshore. 70/30 handles higher flow velocities and is used for more demanding condenser and seawater service.
Questions buyers ask
Which Cu-Ni standard do naval and shipyard projects use?
Many shipyard projects specify EEMUA 144, 145 and 146 for pipe, flanges and fittings. Others use ASTM material with ASME or project dimensions. Send the project specification and we will quote to it.
